OpenFOAM Short Course: Feb 2026

Start from zero and become an advanced OpenFOAM user through our engaging live, instructor-led training.

OpenFOAM Short Course: Feb 2026

The OpenFOAM Short Course is a live, instructor-led training series conducted by Flowthermolab twice a year.

Our OpenFOAM Short Course is a live, interactive, instructor-led training program designed to take you from zero to hero in OpenFOAM. Delivered by expert OpenFOAM practitioners with years of industrial experience and doctoral-level research background, this course blends practical industry workflows with deep technical understanding. Spread across 8 days over weekends, the program is carefully structured for effective learning while accommodating working professionals and students. The first four days focus on OpenFOAM fundamentals, building a strong foundation from scratch, while the next four days dive into advanced solver development using C++, enabling you to customize and extend OpenFOAM for real-world applications.

This course is perfect for complete beginners to OpenFOAM, as well as CFD engineers currently using commercial tools (such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or COMSOL) who wish to transition to open-source CFD. It is equally valuable for students and researchers who want to learn OpenFOAM and use it for academic or industrial projects. To support continuous learning, all sessions are recorded and made available through our learning portal, allowing you to revisit concepts, practice at your own pace, and reinforce your understanding beyond the live classes.

The course consists of two structured modules:

  • OpenFOAM Basics (Part1)
This module takes participants from zero to intermediate user level, covering core concepts, workflows, and hands-on simulation practice.
  • OpenFOAM Advanced Programming (Part 2)
This module focuses on customization, solver modification, and development in OpenFOAM, enabling participants to extend and tailor the software for advanced applications.
