# Lesson 2: Essential Mathematics part1 Copy

This lesson is about revising basic mathematics which you have already studied in your School or Engineering classes. Strong mathematics is an essential skill to be a good CFD Engineer. That will help you to understand the governing Equations of fluid flow, to read and understand technical papers related to new CFD models, and to develop new models and program them. Now when you learn it doesn’t think from an exam point of view, instead put effort to understand the concept so that you can apply it for Engineering purpose.

Clear your doubts and engage in discussions

Assignment 2.1
(a). Calculate the area of a triangle formed by points A(0,0,0), B (1,0,0) and C (0.5,1,0). Use the principle of cross product, show the steps of calculation and also draw it geometrically (on a paper and upload).
(b). Compute the volume of a pyramid formed by the points A(0,0,0), B (1,0,0) , C (0.5,1,0) and D(0.5,0.5,1). Use the principle of scalar triple product and also illustrate it geometrically (Use pen and paper to calculate, take a snapshot of it and paste in the template PPT of assignment. Convert the PPT to PDF and upload along with assignment 2.2).

Assignment 2.2
Mesh a circle into pieces of only quadrilaterals. Make sure that connectivity is maintained and there are no triangles. [ Upload these assignments as a single PDF file at the end of the first module]
