  • Validation of a CFD model

Posted by Loubna on September 20, 2023 at 3:49 pm

    Hi everyone

Can someone please tell me how we can validate or calibrate a CFD model -apart from experimentation which is not always possible-? There is any method how we can know if our results are accurate or not ? And that we can use it in a research article ?.

Sorry if my question is a little far from the subject of these courses.

    Thank you

Not validation but verification is the right term. How to verify numerically the accuracy of CFD model?

    Thanks

      Hello Loubna,

To verify the accuracy of a CFD model without experimentation, you can:

-Perform a grid independence study to find the optimal mesh size.

-Validate the model against analytical or benchmark solutions if available.

-Conduct sensitivity analyses on input parameters.

      -Ensure conservation laws are met.

-Use the Grid Convergence Index for convergence assessment.

-Seek peer review and collaborate with experts.

      Regards,

      Sujith P Joseph
