I followed the instructions from the link. The last instruction was to reboot/restart the system. I entered the command for reboot. But now ubuntu is not launching back. When I try to start it from the virtual box only a black screen appears.

This issue is resolved thanks to Midhun and Vivek.

Solution (If anyone in the future has this same issue):

This issue is because of the Paraview version you have installed. You can go to Paraview’s official website and download the latest version. After downloading and moving it to your desired location you can extract the files using the -xvzf command. Now go to the bin folder. Use the pwd command to find the directory address. Now copy this address.
Paste the below lines in your bashrc file using gedit ~/.bashrc and replace the mentioned address with the address you copied and save the files.
    export PATH=”/home/alagappan/ParaView/ParaView-5.10.0-MPI-Linux-Python3.9-x86_64/bin:$PATH”

    This should work.
