In DTC hull simulation, after creation of mes ( after snappyHexMesh ), when we look in to constant/polyMesh/boundary, we can see the boundary names as inlet, outlet, symmetry etc. But where are we specifying the names and types of boundary? How will the software understand that it is symmetric boundary and it is inlet boundary etc ?

Do you really follow the related lecture? I explained everything there step by step. If you followed the lecture carefully how can you obtain only inlet, outlet and symmetry boundaries after snappy?

    Hi Lakshmisree,

As mentioned in the the discussion for your post related to rotating machines, this is done in the blockMeshdict while defining the external domain. I suggest you to please review the lessons related to block mesh and snappyhexmesh in the initial parts of the course, in detail, to get a better understanding of this before doing these projects, without just following the step by step instructions given in these lessons. Setting boundary conditions and all are the basic steps which need to be understood in doing CFD simulations and has been explained by Dr. Baris in the course.

Please review these queries before posting queries which have been already addressed in the lessons and utilize the forum/support to sort out issues or doubts you may have while following the executing the cases that have not been discussed in the lessons.

    Best regards
