  • Lesson 7 | Multiple boi’s and fluid regions for airplane CAD

    Hi everyone,

I just had a query regarding the difference between the two fluid regions and the boi’s in lesson 7 for preparing a mesh region around the aeroplane.

in the example cad here we had two fuid regions. Can’t we take the ‘near flow field region’ also as a boi and have just 1 fluid region instead of two? If not could you please explain why we are taking the near field and the far field as two separate fluid regions and taking the other geometries as boi’s?

    Best regards,

    Aditya Kurup

    Hi Aditya,
Good question. Boi is one way of specifying the refinement and another way is to give the cell size for the entire cell zone. In that example, it was to show both approaches.
But you are right, you can manage with BOIs in most of the cases.
