Who we are
Flowthermolab is a global computational engineering platform specializing in CFD, FEA, and simulation-driven product development. We are based at the University of Nottingham Innovation Park (UK) and operate in India as Flowthermolab Pvt Ltd, serving clients and learners worldwide.
Initially, Flowthermolab began with a mission to deliver high-quality, affordable education in advanced engineering topics. Over time, it has grown into a complete platform offering expert consultancy, specialized training, and cloud computing resources. Today, our community spans over 73 countries and includes students, researchers, and industry professionals working to master computational tools.
Furthermore, we support companies worldwide through consultancy in CFD, FEA, and engineering software development. Using commercial tools, open-source expertise, and in-house HPC and cloud infrastructure, we deliver scalable and cost-effective simulation solutions.
Additionally, Flowthermolab is supported by Innovate UK, the UK Government’s national innovation agency. The Founder
Dr. Sandeep Mouvanal
Dr. Sandeep Mouvanal is the Founder and CEO of Flowthermolab, a computational engineering platform focused on CFD. Motivated by his passion for research, simulation, and teaching, he founded Flowthermolab to bridge academia and industry. At the same time, he supports small and mid-sized companies in building in-house CFD capabilities and solving real-world challenges.
Flowthermolab offers integrated consultancy, specialized training, and cloud computing resources. As a result, it provides a complete solution for engineers, students, and organizations.
With over 15 years of international experience across India, Germany, and the UK, Dr. Mouvanal has worked with Continental Automotive, Honeywell, and HCL Technologies. His expertise includes engine systems, turbochargers, aero-engine bearing chambers, and thermal management of electrification components using both commercial and open-source CFD tools.
Academically, he earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Kannur University (University Second Rank). He later completed his Master’s and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (CFD) from IIT Madras. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Nottingham (UK) on the EU-funded AERIS (Clean Sky 2) project with Rolls-Royce and Ansys. During this time, he also taught CFD to undergraduate and master’s students.
Moreover, Dr. Mouvanal has authored several research papers and patents in fluid dynamics, thermal systems, and simulation technologies. Overall, his career reflects a strong blend of academic depth and industry experience that continues to shape Flowthermolab’s mission.
